Dennis Berube
Dennis Berube designed the W88 brush system drawing from his immense experience in the welding equipment repair business, servicing electric motors and his distinct hobby of drag racing electric vehicles.
Dennis opened his Phoenix, Arizona welder repair business in 1974. He has serviced literally thousands of rotating Lincoln, Hobart and Miller welders. In 1991, while on a service call to a race car shop, he decided to build an electric dragster (www.currenteliminator.net). Through many years of trial and error, more experience with welders, motors and different w88 brushes he designed, Dennis began experimenting on SA200s using some of the brushes he had tried in his electric race motors. Dennis became very confident with one set of brushes in particular. He installed the brush set in a customer’s SA200, broke them in and then requested that the customer test weld for a considerable amount of time while trying different sizes, type, position, etc. After numerous hours of welding, the customer gave Dennis very positive feedback “stating that he had never felt any Lincoln weld like that” totally increasing his weld efficiency and eliminating vibrations on the brush face to commutator. Dennis applied for and earned his patent on the w88 brush design and now makes this brush available to welders for their own use. Dennis’ experience with electric motors has garnered him numerous world records. As a side note: Dennis currently holds the quickest 6.94 and fastest 201 mph world record for electric vehicle racing. His electric motors are successfully being used in The Current Eliminator, Bigfoot 20 Monster Trucks and the Orange County Chopper’s Rocket Electric drag Bike. |
